Aurora University Campus Public Safety Achieves Tier One Accreditation Through ILEAP

Aurora, Illinois — March 11, 2026 — Aurora University proudly announces that its Campus Public Safety Police Department has achieved Tier One Accreditation through the Illinois Law Enforcement Accreditation Program (ILEAP), marking a significant milestone in the department’s commitment to excellence, professionalism, and community-focused policing.

ILEAP accreditation represents the highest standard of best practices for law enforcement agencies across the State of Illinois. To earn Tier One Accreditation, agencies must demonstrate full compliance with a comprehensive set of professional standards covering four core pillars: Administration, Operations, Arrest Procedures, and Training.

The accreditation process includes an extensive review of departmental policies, on-site assessments by independent evaluators, and validation that the agency meets or exceeds statewide best practices. By achieving Tier One Accreditation, Aurora University Campus Public Safety joins a distinguished group of agencies recognized for operational effectiveness and a strong foundation of professional policing standards.

Aurora University is the only current private university police department in the State of Illinois that has achieved Tier One Accreditation through ILEAP. Aurora University Campus Public Safety will hold a recognition later this semester to honor the accomplishment and acknowledge the officers, staff, and campus partners who contributed to the accreditation process.
