During the academic year, the Office of Campus Life is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. To reach the Office of Campus Life by phone, please call 630-844-7881. For housing or residential topics, please email reslife@aurora.edu. For student organizations or campus engagement topics, please email campuslife@aurora.edu.

Students looking to reach their AHD can contact the Campus Life main office number at 630-844-7881, or contact their specific AHD directly by phone or email. Specific contact information for AHDs can be found on the Meet the Staff page.

In the beginning of the year or at the time of a student’s move-in, RAs will inform the community members about the best ways to reach their RA for non-emergency purposes. As RAs are students with varying schedules and individual needs to be successful as a student, residents should be aware that they need to reach out to Campus Public Safety in cases of emergency, to ensure a timely response.

Students locked out of their building and/or room can call the Office of Campus Life Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. or Campus Public Safety (CPS) 24/7. If a student has lost their AU ID or key, the student should indicate this at the time of their call to Campus Life or CPS, so that a replacement ID card or key, or temporary key can be arranged.

Students with non-emergency maintenance concerns should submit a Maintenance Work Order form on eRezLife as soon as possible. For emergency maintenance concerns, such as flooding or lack of heat, students should contact Campus Public Safety.

The halls open shortly before the start of each semester, and close at 5 p.m. on the Friday of finals week each semester. Specific dates can be found on Campus Life’s Move-in/Move-out Information page.

During the academic year, the halls close for winter break and after the conclusion of the spring semester. The halls remain open for fall break, Thanksgiving break, and spring break. During winter break and summer, students may be eligible to stay in the halls for approved reasons, such as in-season athletics and academics. Specific dates during which students can request to stay, and any pertinent request deadlines or associated costs will be communicated to students via email, fliers, and floor meetings.

Students wishing to move-in early at the start of the fall or spring semesters should complete the Early Move-In Request form on eRezLife. The information provided on the form will be reviewed and students will be notified of approval or denial for their move-in request. Please note that in-season athletics and academic commitments are considered approved reasons. All others requests will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. A $50/night fee may be applied to a student’s account for any dates not included in the official fall or spring housing contract.

For breaks during which the halls close, such as winter break and summer, students will be asked to submit a Break Request form or a contract via eRezLife. Information specific to the process for each break will be communicated to students via email, fliers, and floor meetings. Please note that there may be a fee to stay in the halls over break periods when the halls are closed.

Terms and conditions for the housing contract can be located in the housing contract application, or in the Resources section of eRezLife.

Meal plans and associated prices can be found on the Housing and Dining Costs page.

Students desiring a different meal plan can request a meal plan change until 4 p.m. on the third Thursday of the semester by submitting the Meal Plan Change request form on eRezLife.

Current AU students will go through the housing process to select their housing assignment. Instructions regarding the process, including roommate requests and priority deadlines, will be sent via email prior to the process beginning. Students wishing to request a specific roommate for the following year will create a roommate group in eRezLife around the time of the process. Students looking to request a new roommate during a semester should submit a Room Change Request form.

Current AU students will go through the housing process to select their housing assignment at their time slot based on the rooms available at that time. Instructions regarding the process, including roommate requests, priority deadlines, selection, and time slots, will be sent via email in early spring.

Students who have received a housing assignment or who are currently living on campus and interested in changing rooms should submit the Room Change Request form on eRezLife. As spaces become available, Campus Life will reach out to students via their AU email to begin the room change process if the student is interested in the available space. Once a student submits the Room Change Request form, there is nothing more the student needs to do, as this request remains on file while Campus Life reviews available spaces.

The Office of Campus Life reserves the right to move or reassign a resident during the housing contract period. Additionally, the Office of Campus Life may need to consolidate vacancies by relocating residents at any time during the contract period.

Any vacancies in residence hall rooms are required to be kept in “move-in ready” condition, unless otherwise specified by the Office of Campus Life. Move-in ready includes ensuring that the full set of furniture belonging to the vacant assignment remains assembled, present, and empty of belongings.

The Office of Campus Life does not offer an option for students to buy-out a room prior to the start of the semester. If a room is under occupied and there is enough availability of specific room types during the semester to offer this as an option, the Office of Campus Life will reach out to students via their AU email to inform them of available options and associated costs.

Leading up to an official end-of-the-semester hall closing date, students living in the residence halls will receive communication regarding move-out details via email, hall postings, and floor meetings. All students without an approved break agreement must check out of the residence halls by 5 p.m. on the date of hall closing.

Students fully moving out of their residence hall room (during or at the end of a semester) must complete a full check-out with their Resident Assistant or another Campus Life staff member. During this check-out, the condition of the room at the time of check-out will be briefly assessed, the residence hall room key collected, and the student will receive a copy of their check-out paperwork. A more in-depth assessment of the room's condition will take place by a professional staff member of Campus Life following the check-out.

Following a student’s official check-out or departure from a residence hall room, Campus Life professional staff members will assess the condition of the residence hall room. Any damages that are not considered normal wear and tear may be billed to the student’s account. Students will receive a notice of billing with information pertaining to the charge, and information regarding how to appeal a charge.

Students checking out of the residence halls after the official hall closing date/time will be provided with specific instructions via email, fliers, and/or floor meetings on how to check out of their room and return their key. These checkouts typically involve the student submitting an Express Checkout Form on eRezLife and turning their room key into Campus Public Safety (CPS) before leaving campus.

Abandoned items in a student room may result in a cleaning fee and/or an improper checkout fee. Students are required to remove all personal items from their residence hall room prior to checking out of the room.

Students can return their mail key to the Mail Center during their business hours. Students are also welcome to turn in their mail key with their room key when completing their room check-out for Campus Life to return to the Mail Center.

If a student has lost their room key, the student should visit the Office of Campus Life between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Monday through Friday or Campus Public Safety (CPS) any other time of the week. Students will receive a temporary key to access their space while the key is located or while a permanent replacement lock and key is prepared (typically referred to as a “recore”). The cost of a recore is a minimum of $120 and is dependent on the number of locks and keys that need to be replaced due to the lost key. Students are encouraged to inform CPS immediately when losing a key, due to safety concerns.

Any student who has lost their AU ID should visit Campus Public Safety (CPS) to have a replacement card printed. The cost of an ID for residential students is $35. Students are encouraged to inform CPS immediately when losing an AU ID due to safety concerns.

The cost of laundry is built into the cost of room and board, allowing students unlimited use of the laundry machines in the residence halls.

Quiet hours are a period of time in the residence halls when students are expected to ensure that noise is kept to a reasonable or low level. These hours start later in the evening and continue until morning to support an environment conducive to rest and sleep. Twenty-four-hour courtesy hours are always in place to encourage students to always be respectful of their surrounding neighbors, regardless of the time of day. Specific information regarding policies can be found in the A-Book.

Students looking for information on what to bring and what to leave at home should visit Campus Life’s What to Bring page. Additional information regarding policies restricting what students can bring can be found in the A-Book.

Students are permitted to have pet fish on campus in a tank no larger than 10 gallons. Please note that emotional support animals and/or service animals must be approved by the Disability Resource Office to live in the residence halls.

Aurora University’s dining options include Tru Blu Dining, Tru Blu Cafe, and the Spartan Spot. For more information on topics such as meal plans, dining locations, and how to use your meal plan, visit dineoncampus.com/aurora.

All students are required to register their vehicle with Campus Public Safety. There is no cost to register a vehicle. Overnight parking is located in the parking garage. View additional parking information.

Housing and dining costs are dependent on the room and meal plan type. Specific information can be found on the Housing and Dining Costs page.

Schedules for community restroom cleaning, typically taking place in the morning or earlier in the afternoon, are determined each year and posted on the entryways of each restroom in the residence halls. Cleaning times are also communicated during initial floor meetings at the start of the year.

Any student wanting to cancel their housing contract should fill out the Housing Cancellation form on their eRezLife account.

For detailed housing cancellation information and cancellation fees, students should read their Housing Contract terms and conditions. These terms and conditions can be found in the Resources section of eRezLife.
