Resources for First-Generation Students
College can be a challenging time for anyone. Students may experience academic pressure, financial concerns, and social challenges. First-generation students may experience these stresses differently than their peers whose parents and/or siblings have attended college. Some students may feel guilt or shame as they worry about leaving their families or may believe that they don't really belong in college. This can take a toll on students academically, socially, and emotionally. In addition to Counseling Services, there are other resources available to help students navigate the adjustment of college.
