Forms and Policies
Service Animals (SA) include any dog that is individually trained to do work or perform tasks for an individual with a disability including a physical, sensory, psychiatric, intellectual, or other mental disability. Trained miniature horses also fall within the ADA’s amended definition of a SA.
Emotional Support Animals (ESA) are animals that may work, provide assistance, or perform tasks to alleviate one or more identified symptoms or effects of an individual’s existing disability. ESA are not considered service animals under the ADAAA or AU’s Service Animal Policy, and no specific certification or formal training for ESA is required.
