Greetings from the Wellness Center! I am eager and excited to get started in this new change of pace after coming from many years in varied social work positions. I received my Bachelor’s in Psychology from Wittenberg University and my Master’s of Social Work from Western Michigan University. While much of my background is as a clinician, I am committed to the whole person, meeting student physical and emotional needs and creating a safe, welcoming, and affirming space for any of those who seek to have a better, fuller understanding and acceptance of themselves.

Many years of private practice for this age demographic have led to me being passionate about supporting students through life’s challenges, including, but not limited to overall life stress, transitions, anxiety, depression, and trauma. I am deeply committed to working with BIPOC, LGBTQIA+ individuals and have a vested interest in providing health and counseling care that is inclusive, affirming, and culturally responsive.

I seek to promote collaboration both within the Aurora University community and with community partners as well, for both our medical and counseling services. I currently serve on the NASWIL-DEIAB Policy Committee, am an active NASW member, and serve on both the TransUpFront Illinois Policy Committee and the Stand with Trans board.

Nursing experience: 7 years in juvenile corrections and AU Health Services Nurse since November 2021.

About me: As a Spartan alumni, I love being back on campus to help students stay well throughout their college career. Staying well is more than physical wellness, it is social connectedness, balancing the stressors of life, living in the moment, and so much more. As your Health Services Nurse, I will work with you to navigate your healthcare choices and ways to keep you healthy at AU and beyond.

After hours, I enjoy spending time with my spouse and 2 young boys. I enjoy gardening, baking, camping, hiking, and natural history museums.
