International students
In preparing for your arrival to Aurora University, please take a moment and review the following information required to be on file in the Wellness Center PRIOR to your arrival. All international students are required to complete both sides of our Student Health/Immunization Record form. The front side provides the Wellness Center with information about your general health, and the back side provides information about your immunization history required by the State of Illinois College Immunization Code (77 ILL. Adm. Code 694) and Aurora University. When completing the immunization history section pay close attention to the detailed immunization requirement listed below, as failure to provide all required information could result in delay with your registration.
Required Immunizations for all International Students
- Measles (Rubeola): Two doses
- Mumps: Two doses
- Rubella: Two doses
- Tetanus, Diphtheria, Pertussis (DTP, DTaP, Td, Tdap): At least three doses of past Tetanus, Diphtheria and Pertussis containing vaccine are required. One dose must be Tetanus, Diphtheria acellular Pertussis vaccine (Tdap). The last dose (DTP, DTaP, Td, or Tdap) must have been received within 10 years prior to the term of current enrollment.
- Meningococcal: If 21 years of age or younger, and starting at AU during Fall 2016 or later, one dose of meningococcal conjugate vaccine on or after 16 years of age is required.
- Tuberculosis Testing: All international students are required to fill out a TB screening form annually. This form must be completed prior to arriving on campus for the first day of classes. A Health Services nurse will review your TB screening form and determine if TB testing is required.
If you are required to complete a TB test, then the TB test must be performed no sooner than 6 months prior to arriving on campus. Below are the options for TB testing:
- TB IGRA Blood Test (T-Spot or QuantiFERON-TB Gold): Preferred method of TB testing. The test may be performed outside of the US, but you must submit a lab report in English. If we are not able to translate the lab report, interpret the test result, or if the document is not legible, then you will be asked to repeat the test.
- Two-step TB Skin Test (TST): 2 separate tests administered 7-28 days apart. TST can only be performed in the US.
If your TB test result is positive, then a chest x-ray is required. Chest x-rays must be performed in the US. A chest x-ray will NOT be accepted as a substitute for a TB test.
Any required TB testing applies regardless of BCG vaccination.
Special Note: All records must be in English, clearly legible, and include your name and date of birth to be considered admissible.
