Steps to Financing Your College Education

Explore Self-Service Portal

  1. Log in with your student credentials at aurorauniversity.okta.com.
  2. Click on the Self-Service app.

Review Offer Letter

  1. Click the three horizontal bars in the top left corner of the screen.
  2. Click “Financial Information.”
  3. Click “Financial Aid.”
  4. Choose “Offer Letter.”
  5. Review your offer letter, including aid types offered and important information.

If you are not able to access the Self-Service offer letter, please refer to the offer letter sent in the mail.

Calculate Out-of-Pocket Costs

  1. Find your “Total Direct Costs” under the “Cost of Attendance” section at the top of your offer letter. DO NOT include indirect costs in this calculation. Refer to the Navigating the Offer Letter and Estimated Net Cost handout at aurora.edu/navigate.
  2. Subtract your scholarships and grants from your direct costs. This is your out-of-pocket cost before loans.
  3. Subtract your loans from the number calculated in the step above. This is your estimated out-of-pocket cost after loans.

Complete Financial Aid Steps

  1. Click the three horizontal bars in the top left corner of the screen.
  2. Click “Financial Information.”
  3. Click “Financial Aid.”
  4. Choose “Financial Aid Home.”
  5. Review items marked as action needed and complete these steps. If you are not sure what is needed, please contact the Office of Financial Aid at finaid@aurora.edu or 630-844-6190.

Pursue Other Scholarships and Loans

  • Search for external scholarships at aurora.edu/externalscholarships.
  • Apply for the Federal Parent PLUS Loan at studentaid.gov/plus-app. The loan is available in April to dependent students only.
  • Research private educational loans. We recommend using this as a last resource.

Explore Payment Options

  1. Click on the “Make A Payment” tab on your Okta dashboard.
  2. Log in to the Online Student Account Center using your student credentials.
  3. Set up an authorized user.
  4. Save a payment method to your payment profile.
  5. Sign up for eRefunds.

Payment Options and Important Dates:

  • Pay by semester. Payment due date is August 15.
  • Enroll in 5-month payment plan. First payment is due August 15.

Note: Fall semester bills will be available by mid-July. At this time you will be able to make payments and/or enroll in the Monthly Payment Plan.
