Tax Information

1098-T forms can be accessed via Self-Service. Please log into Self-Service using your AU username and password. Under the Online Student Accounts menu, click on View My 1098-T Forms and select the appropriate tax year. The current and prior year forms are available via Self-Service.

What is a 1098-T?

The 1098-T form serves to alert students that they may be eligible for federal income tax education credits. Receipt of a 1098-T form does not in any way indicate a student’s eligibility for a tax credit. To determine the amount of qualified tuition and related expenses paid, and the amount of scholarships and grants received, a taxpayer should use their own financial records and if necessary, seek the expertise of a professional tax preparer.

How do I claim the education credits on my individual tax return?

You should use the information on the 1098-T form in conjunction with your own payment records to complete your individual tax return. If you have questions about how to compute an education tax credit, consult your tax professional or refer to the IRS Publication 970.

We cannot stress enough the importance of reviewing the IRS.gov website and IRS Publication 970 or seeking counsel from a tax professional for advice. Aurora University cannot provide tax advice.

Where can I find my tuition statement?

All tuition statements can be accessed through Self-Service. Under the Student Finance menu, click on Continue to Payment Center. You may also access the Payment Center directly. You will be able to view and download your tuition/billing statements in the Payment Center.
