Theresa Daunheimer (AU ‘18)

I am a recent AU graduate, current Waubonsee art student, and a long time resident of Batavia. My outlet for stress has been doing a lot of painting during the quarantine. I have been playing with the juxtaposition of randomness and rules in my art, concentrating my focus on geometric patterns.

For A Method to the Madness: Squares piece, I mapped out the pattern and rolled a 20-sided dice to determine what color went in which spot. To me, it is a type of contained chaos that gave me the impression of maintaining control among the unexpected.

Soy una graduada reciente de AU, actual estudiante de arte en Waubonsee y residente de Batavia, desde hace mucho tiempo. Mi salida para el estrés ha sido pintando mucho, durante la cuarentena. He estado jugando con la yuxtaposición de la aleatoriedad y las reglas en mi arte, concentrándome en los patrones geométricos.

Para la pieza A Method to the Madness: Squares, tracé el patrón y lancé un dado de 20 lados, para determinar qué color iba en qué lugar. Para mí, es un tipo de caos contenido, que me dio la impresión de mantener el control entre lo inesperado.
