I drew artwork like these largely because of the pandemic. I also exercised my creativity by drawing these things to show the world what we’ve gone through. Of all the viruses we’ve been hit with like Ebola, E.coli, SARS, African Swine Fever, Chronic Wasting Disease, Mad Cow Disease, Scrapies, etc., the Coronavirus is by far the worst global pandemic. Ebola never had us stay indoors let alone silenced transportation on a global scale, and SARS was up only for a few weeks in its time. Thank goodness for apps and outdoor services outside of shops and restaurants. We can see the severity of COVID-19 and how even being at a party without a mask and a pair of gloves on can kill you.

At a Jewel Osco where I used to work, people literally emptied large parts of shelves. We didn’t even have enough paper products on the shelves because people were hoarding during the early stages of the pandemic. During that time, the store didn’t even make its employees wear masks and gloves until the union told them to while the shelves slowly replenished.

Dibujé obras de arte como estas, en gran parte, debido a la pandemia. También ejercité mi creatividad, al dibujar estas cosas para mostrarle al mundo, por lo que hemos pasado. De todos los virus que nos han afectado, como el ébola, la E. coli, el SARS, la peste porcina africana, la emaciación crónica, la enfermedad de las vacas locas, el scrapies, etc., el coronavirus es, con mucho, la peor pandemia mundial. El ébola nunca nos hizo quedarnos en casa y mucho menos, silenciar el transporte a escala mundial y el SARS, solo estuvo activo durante unas pocas semanas, en su momento. Gracias a Dios por las aplicaciones y los servicios al aire libre fuera de las tiendas y los restaurantes. Podemos ver la gravedad del COVID-19 y cómo incluso estar en una fiesta sin una máscara y un par de guantes puede matarte.

En un Jewel Osco donde solía trabajar, la gente literalmente vaciaba gran parte de los estantes. Ni siquiera teníamos suficientes productos de papel en los estantes, porque la gente estaba acumulando, durante las primeras etapas de la pandemia. Durante ese tiempo, la tienda ni siquiera hizo que sus empleados usaran máscaras y guantes hasta que el sindicato les dijo que lo hicieran, mientras los estantes se llenaban lentamente.
