During coronavirus I’m ignoring the idea of “finished” work and instead focusing on the practice of sketching. A sketch doesn’t have to be about anything grand; it can simply record the relationship between a few things, or it can be about playing with how those relationships are mapped out on a piece of paper. I’m learning that when I make a sketch the pressure to produce something awesome is low, so it’s easier to draw what’s actually interesting to me, and ignore what I think ought to be interesting.
Durante el coronavirus, ignoro la idea del trabajo "terminado" y en cambio, me concentro en la práctica de dibujar. Un boceto no tiene por qué ser algo grandioso; simplemente puede registrar la relación entre algunas cosas, o puede tratarse de jugar con cómo se trazan esas relaciones, en una hoja de papel. Estoy aprendiendo que cuando hago un boceto, la presión para producir algo asombroso es baja, por lo que es más fácil dibujar lo que realmente me interesa, e ignorar lo que creo que debería ser interesante.

Sheldon Till-Campbell grew up in Kansas City, Missouri, and moved to Illinois to attend Wheaton College, where he met his wife and favorite illustrator, Lucy Rose Till-Campbell. Sheldon received a BA in studio art from Wheaton College where he currently works as the studio associate and gallery manager. He tries to find time to go on a walk and sketch every weekday.
