For Hello In There:

A 2020 story of our family and different types of loss. Not only are the elderly mother and her adult son physically separated due to COVID-19, but the mother is a victim of Alzheimer’s. She clutches a baby doll for comfort, perhaps remembering her past as a young mother but she may not remember her own son.

Una historia de 2020 de nuestra familia y diferentes tipos de pérdida. No solo la madre anciana y su hijo adulto están físicamente separados debido al COVID-19, sino que la madre es víctima de la enfermedad de Alzheimer. Ella agarra un muñeco para consolarse, tal vez recordando su pasado como madre joven, pero tal vez no recuerde a su propio hijo.

Artist Biography / Biografía del artista:

Working as a graphic designer for over 30 years, I created visual communications which were often reductive; simplified images that could be understood easily. My colored pencil art shows a totally different approach. My work is richly detailed to give the viewer a sense of visiting the space, and recreating a mood or atmosphere. I am influenced by nature in my art, as well as the human experience.

Trabajando como diseñador gráfico durante más de 30 años, creé comunicaciones visuales que a menudo eran reductivas; Imágenes simplificadas que podrían entenderse fácilmente. Mi arte con lápices de colores muestra un enfoque totalmente diferente. Mi trabajo está ricamente detallado para darle al espectador la sensación de visitar el espacio y recrear un estado de ánimo o atmósfera. Estoy influenciado por la naturaleza en mi arte, así como por la experiencia humana.
