Short-Term Study Away

The deadline to submit your deposit, apply for travel scholarships, and be registered for the 2024–2025 Short-Term Study Away opportunities is December 3, 2024. 

Please review the information below for course-specific details, including final payment deadlines and how to secure your spot.

 

Your experience begins in the AU classroom and ends with one to two weeks of faculty-led travel to a destination either in the U.S. Short-Term Study Away is offered throughout the academic year:

  • Fall: Complement your learning in a fall semester course with travel across the fall break.
  • Spring: Bring your classroom learning to life in a spring semester course by engaging in a travel experience over spring break.
  • Summer: Take an additional travel-based course with one or more weeks of destination-based learning and still have time for your summer job or traditional summer school classes.

Ready to travel for credit?

Interested students should:

  1. Meet with the instructor and secure permission to register.
  2. Review and sign the Study Away Payment Agreement and Pre-Registration Acknowledgement of Policies forms.
  3. Submit the Study Away Payment Agreement and Pre-Registration Acknowledgement of Policies forms and the $500 deposit to Student Accounts by December 3, 2024.
  4. Once the deposit is received, you will be registered for the course by the Registrar.
  5. Pay the remaining balance by the course-specific deadline.
  6. Awards of up to $1,000 are available to support AU Study Away course and travel costs. Apply here – the scholarship application deadline has been extended to December 3, 2024! Additional financial aid may be available; please contact the Office of Financial Aid at finaid@aurora.edu or 630-844-6190 for specific information.
