I have been an artist all my life. I took training in watercolors as a child from my grandmother. In high school, I studied under childrens book illustrator Robert Baumgartner. In college I studied medical illustration and design. After graduating, I took a job as an illustrator in the corporate world, eventually becoming an art director and then a director of marketing and advertising. Through all of that, my true love was always painting.
I went on to get an MFA in painting and did further study in still life and portraiture at Chicago’s historic Palette and Chisel Academy. In 2001, I was offered an adjunct faculty position at Elgin Community College and I taught there, at NIU, and at the Illinois Institute of Art for seventeen years. I currently teach at Aurora University and Water Street Studios in Batavia as well as continuing my work with portraits, still life, and landscapes. My work is in collections from Los Angeles to Saudi Arabia.
