University and Core Curriculum Learning Outcomes
All Aurora University students are provided instruction in effective communication and critical thinking — AU’s University Learning Outcomes (ULOs). In addition, the Core Curriculum learning outcomes for undergraduates also include the following:
- Advocacy for Self and Others
Students will demonstrate the ability to advocate for themselves and others by clearly articulating values, considering diverse perspectives, and engaging in equitable practices.

Students will demonstrate curiosity and resilience by exploring interdisciplinary connections, adapting to challenges, and revising their approaches.
(NACE competency: Creativity, Critical Thinking, Career and Self-Development, Professionalism) - Collaboration
Students will practice effective collaboration with individuals and groups from diverse backgrounds to achieve shared goals in academic, professional, or community settings.

Students will generate and communicate innovative ideas by integrating multiple perspectives, taking intellectual risks, and demonstrating creative expression across disciplines.

Students will practice critical analysis for problem solving and knowledge creation relevant to academic, personal, and professional contexts.

These five Core Curriculum outcomes aim to develop collaborative, lifelong learners and knowledge creators who think creatively, demonstrate academic curiosity and resilience, and advocate for themselves and others. The Core Curriculum outcomes are also aligned with skills and characteristics identified through the National Association of Colleges and Employers’ (NACE) competencies that reflect the proficiencies expected of Aurora University graduates.
