Opportunities for Faculty

Fulbright Scholars Program

The Fulbright Scholars Program invites applications for grants to support faculty who want to travel abroad to teach, engage in research, or complete professional projects. Applications typically open each spring for opportunities that begin in the next grant period. Details regarding specific types of awards can be found on the Fulbright Scholars website.

Hosting a Short-Term Study Away (STSA)

Faculty are invited to submit proposals to host STSA courses/trips for students. These trips embed travel within a fall, spring, or summer course. Potential deliveries include the following:

  • Fall Module I or fall course with travel over fall break.
  • Spring Module I or spring course with travel over spring break.
  • Summer May Term course and travel.
  • Course and travel within any of the summer terms.

Courses may satisfy a major, minor, certificate, or general elective requirement, as relevant. Since collaboration across disciplines is highly valuable, faculty members are encouraged to teach separate courses but travel together in pairs.

Courses are planned multiple years in advance; early planning and proposals are appreciated. Please contact Mary Tarling, director of global engagement, at mtarling@aurora.edu or 630-844-7802 with any questions or to explore options.
