Admission Requirements

Candidates for the program must hold a current Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL), have completed a master’s degree in an area of education and at least five years of teaching or school support staff experience prior to the start of their first semester, and currently be under contract as a full-time classroom teacher or in a school staff position.

Candidates must submit:

  • A completed Aurora University Alternative Principal Endorsement Program admission application (aurora.edu/apply)
  • Official transcripts* from all colleges attended, including transcripts for a graduate degree in an area of education, indicating a GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • A current resume documenting teaching and leadership experience

Once all the above items are submitted, a personal interview will be conducted by a panel of Aurora University faculty. As part of the interview, you will be asked to complete a timed writing sample.

*Most institutions use Parchment or National Student Clearinghouse to send transcripts. If your college or university does not use either, please have your official transcripts sent to AU-Etranscripts@aurora.edu or the mailing address below.
