Admission Requirements
All candidates seeking admission to the MA in Teaching — Elementary Education program must:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher with a major in one of the following content areas: English, Language Arts, Math, Physical Science, Reading, or Social Science*
- Official transcripts** from all colleges attended indicating a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
- Passing grade on Illinois Licensure Testing System (ILTS) test 305 for Elementary Education (Grades 1–6) and an Educator Licensure with Stipulations endorsed for Alternative Provisional Educator (ELS-APE)
- Employment as a provisional teacher in an elementary school teaching grades 1–6
*Candidates who do not hold a bachelor’s degree in an approved content area will be required to submit transcripts to the state superintendent to be reviewed for equivalency.
**Most institutions use Parchment or National Student Clearinghouse to send transcripts. If your college or university does not use either, please have your official transcripts sent to AU-Etranscripts@aurora.edu or the mailing address below.
