Admission Requirements
All candidates seeking admission to the program must:
- Complete the Graduate Application for Admission.
- Submit official transcripts* showing a bachelor’s degree and any graduate coursework.
- Hold a bachelor’s degree or higher with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 and a major in one of the following content areas: English, Language Arts, Math, Physical Science, Reading, or Social Science.**
- Hold a current Illinois Educator License with Stipulations endorsed for Alternative Provisional Educator (ELS-APE).
- Pass the Illinois Licensure Testing System (ILTS) test 305 for Elementary Education (Grades 1–6).
- Secure employment as a provisional teacher in an elementary school teaching grades 1–6.
*Most institutions use Parchment or National Student Clearinghouse to send transcripts. If your college or university does not use either, please have your official transcripts sent to AU-Etranscripts@aurora.edu or the mailing address below.
