Drug and Alcohol Abuse Prevention Program
The Drug-Free Schools and Communities Act Amendments of 1989, Public Law 101-226, require that, as a condition of receiving funds or any other form of financial assistance under any Federal program, an institution of higher education must adopt and implement a program to prevent the unlawful possession, use, or distribution of state and/or federal illicit drugs and alcohol by students and employees. Aurora University supports this requirement and will maintain an alcohol-free and drug-free environment in the workplace.
Aurora University will disseminate and ensure receipt of policy/information to all students, staff, and faculty on an annual basis. This process is formally conducted by email distribution to all enrolled students and all current employees. This email is distributed on the first day of classes at the beginning of each academic year. The University may send additional email notifications throughout the year if there are significant changes to the current policies in place or if additional information needs to be designated.
Questions concerning these policies and/or alcohol and other drug programs, interventions, and policies may be directed to Robert Agnoli, Director of the Counseling Center (ragnoli@aurora.edu), Allison Brady, Dean of Students (abrady@aurora.edu), and/or Robert Crouch, Interim Vice President for Human Resources (rcrouch@aurora.edu).
