AU president named notable Latina leader
November 18, 2024
Aurora University President Susana Rivera-Mills was named to Crain’s Chicago Business’ list of Notable Latino Leaders, the Chicago-based business publication announced today.
The list highlights top Latino leaders in the Chicago area based on their accomplishments in the past 18 months. Dr. Rivera-Mills is the first Latina to lead AU since the institution’s founding in 1893.
As a first-generation college student, Rivera-Mills understands the transformative power of education. Since becoming AU’s president in June 2023, she has worked to ensure that all learners, including underserved and first-generation students, feel included and benefit from the college experience.
“Her tireless efforts to advance education and ensure access for all underscore her exceptional influence on our current and future students,” said John Ammons, chair of the AU Board of Trustees. “I truly believe this recognition reflects the collaborative spirit of the Aurora University community.”
