Secretary for the School of Nursing (part-time, 20 hours per week)

Position Purpose: The Nursing Clerk supports learning by providing clerical support to admissions, clinical, and accreditation functions in the School of Nursing. This is a 12-month, part-time position working approximately 20 hours per week.

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Gathers, organizes and maintains student applicant materials in support of Nursing Admission Committee. Complies materials into file for committee consideration.
  2. Gathers, organizes and maintains accurate and up to date faculty and student credential data to comply with accreditation requirements. Educate and assist faculty and students with submission of required documents.
  3. Gathers, organizes and maintains student academic records in support of Nursing Assessment Committee. Creates reports as directed.
  4. Assists Dean, Chairs and Nursing Clinical and Credential Coordinator with reports and special projects.

Essential Job Requirements:


  • High School diploma or GED required


  • One to three years administrative or clerical experience required.
  • Experience in higher education or healthcare strongly preferred.


  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills; ability to work effectively with diverse population of students, faculty, staff and public.

Special Requirements:

  • Excellent organization skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent computer skills, particularly database software.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to move about campus, and spend long periods of time at a computer work station.
