Nursing Clinical Coordinator (12 month, part-time)

Position Purpose: The Nursing Clinical Coordinator supports learning through recruiting and coordinating all clinical sites for all pre-licensure nursing students. This is a 12-month position, working 20 hours per week.

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Supports the mission of Aurora University and the Department of Nursing.
  2. Functions as liaison with clinical agencies used for student placement.
  3. Assures every Aurora campus nursing student has a clinical placement for the eight clinical courses in the undergraduate nursing program.
  4. Hires, orients, and evaluations the 45 plus clinical adjuncts required to teach the nursing clinical courses;
  5. Visits and maintains collegial relationships with the 25 clinical sites where nursing students complete their clinical courses; and
  6. Manages students and adjunct concerns related to clinical placements.
  7. Supervises and evaluates clinical adjuncts.
  8. Follows up with clinical facility regarding any incidents that affect patients or clinical site processes.
  9. Develops and maintains a directory of orientation requirements and procedure for all the clinical agencies.
  10. Assists with the identification and evaluation of potential clinical sites.
  11. Develops and maintains current clinical partnerships.
  12. Evaluates clinical sites for appropriateness of achieving curricular learning outcomes.

Essential Job Requirements:

Education:

  • Minimum degree preparation: bachelor’s degree in nursing, MS in nursing preferred
  • Registered Nurse in Illinois

Experience:

  • Minimum of five years’ work experience as a Registered Nurse

Skills:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent problem-solving and conflict-management skills
  • Strong computer skills
  • Excellent organizational skills

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to move about campus and other locations
  • Ability to interact via telephone, in person and via electronic media
