Junior Graphic Designer

Aurora University is an independent, comprehensive institution founded in 1893 offering bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees. Our two campuses are located in Aurora, Illinois and on the shores of Geneva Lake in Wisconsin. Additionally, we have an Educational Center in Woodstock, Illinois. Position Purpose: The Junior Graphic Designer supports learning by strengthening the university’s reputation, support and sustainability by assisting with the production of designed print and digital projects.

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Provides assistance to the design of print and digital communication projects for the university and internal departments. Works primarily on smaller design projects, page layout, and edit/correction of text and color.
  2. Upholds the AU brand in all design projects, meeting both institutional and client department needs.
  3. Provides assistance with coordination of production for projects.
  4. Serves as photographer as needed.
  5. Manages photography library and file archives.

Essential Job Requirements:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design or equivalent field required.


  • One or more years of relevant experience


  • Excellent design skills
  • Expertise in Adobe Creative Suite software (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator)
  • Excellent time management
  • Working knowledge of production processes, mail fulfillment and logistics
  • Experience in HTML and CSS coding preferred

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to use a computer terminal
  • Ability to move about campus
  • Ability to work occasional evening and weekend hours
