Financial Aid Spartan Fellow

Aurora University is an independent, comprehensive institution founded in 1893 offering bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees. Our two campuses are located in Aurora, Illinois and on the shores of Geneva Lake in Wisconsin. Additionally, we have an Educational Center in Woodstock, Illinois. Position Purpose: Financial Aid Spartan Fellow supports learning by welcoming and providing information to guests in the Office of Financial Aid. Also performs secretarial duties and assists with federal and state audit compliance processes. This is a 6-12 month appointment.

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Provides customer service to financial aid customers by answering phone calls, responding to email requests, and greeting visitors.
  2. Coordinates reservations and confirmation process for financial aid events.
  3. Participates in financial aid workshops, seminars, and other recruitment events as required.
  4. Coordinates and communicates the outside scholarship opportunities using marketing materials and financial aid website.
  5. Assists with coordinating, editing, and designing forms, brochures and website content for Financial Aid department.

Essential Job Requirements:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree

Experience:

  • Experience in higher education helpful.

Skills:

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills with a customer service orientation.
  • Spanish speaking skills preferred.
  • Strong verbal and interpersonal skills necessary.
  • Ability to use general office equipment.
  • Ability to handle admissions and financial aid information appropriately.
  • Ability to interact with a diverse group of faculty, staff, students, and parents and to develop strong working relationships with colleagues, staff, administrators, students, and the general public.
  • Knowledge of spreadsheet and word processing systems; knowledge of Colleague very helpful.

Special Requirements:

  • Flexibility with an evolving work situation.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to move about campus.
  • Ability to interact via telephone, in person, and via electronic media.
