Aurora University

Update - 4 April 2022

The Quad

A message from Dr. Amy Gray, Vice President for Student Life:

As previously communicated, AU has been monitoring COVID-19 on campus and in the greater community. We chose to monitor COVID-19 cases following spring break to exercise caution and have not experienced a spike in cases (AU COVID-19 Dashboard). In addition, per the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the COVID-19 transmission rates in Kane County, McHenry County, and Walworth County are currently classified as "low."

As a result, we are rescinding the mask requirement for classes and labs beginning Monday, April 4, 2022. Per Illinois Department of Public Health guidelines, masks will still be required in the following locations:

  • Surveillance testing locations
  • AU Wellness Center
  • Athletic training treatment rooms

In addition, members of the AU community are expected to wear masks at the request of individuals when meeting in the personal work or living spaces of those individuals.

Of course, any member of the AU community who prefers to continue to wear a mask in places where masking is not required is welcome and encouraged to do so. As masking becomes a personal choice in more public places, it is important that we continue to respect individual decisions regarding masking and other practices that may reduce transmission of COVID-19 and other communicable diseases.

Stay healthy, Spartans!
