The theatre department produces two performances each academic year as part of the Celebrating Arts and Ideas series. Theatre majors participate in all areas of production, and students of all majors are welcome to audition.

2017-2018 AU Theatre Season:

Mainstage Season (Perry Theatre):

Twelfth Night by William Shakespeare
November 10-11 and 15-18, 2017 | 7:30 p.m.
Perry Theatre

Viola loves Orsino. Orsino loves Olivia. Olivia loves Viola. Malvolio loves himself. Love is certainly in the air in Illyria, but nothing is as it seems, especially when twins, sassy servants, a drunk uncle, a pirate, and a merry band of fools are involved. This wise, wacky, and weirdly beautiful comedy about loss, identity and finding love in unexpected places is considered by many to be one of Shakespeare's greatest plays for good reason.

Into the Woods by Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine
April 13-14 and 18-21, 2018 | 7:30 p.m.
April 14 and 21, 2018 | 2:30 p.m.
Perry Theatre

James Lapine and Stephen Sondheim take everyone's favorite storybook characters and bring them together for a timeless, yet relevant, piece... and a rare modern classic. Come join a Baker and his Wife, Jack (of beanstalk fame), Little Red Riding Hood and Cinderella as they venture Into the Woods to chase their dreams, fight their demons and find their happily ever after.

Theatre Studio Season (Theatre Studio Lab):
