Learning Outcomes — Exercise Science

All Exercise Science majors will be able:

  • To understand human anatomy and physiology.
  • To understand the relation of nutrients for athletic and non-athletic population.
  • To have an understanding of kinesthetic movement and the physiological effects of exercise. (Body Movement)
  • To recognize and understand the mental & physical domains of injury prevention and care.
  • To be able to manage, communicate, and network effectively within various health and exercise settings.

Sports Performance emphasis majors will be able:

  • Develop a comprehensive periodized exercise program based on energy and sport demands.
  • To understand risk management and liability within the athletic environment.
  • To practically apply the acquisition of knowledge in a professional setting.

Pre-Physical Therapy emphasis majors will be able:

  • To meet all of the competencies and standards eligible to enter a physical therapy program.
  • Students should understand and apply the major concepts, theories, and empirical findings in health science.

Fitness and Wellness Promotion emphasis majors will be able:

  • To practically apply the acquisition of knowledge in a professional setting.
  • To assess and evaluate fitness and health levels of normal and special populations to determine corrective strategies.
  • To understand risk management and liability within the athletic environment.
