Global Sport Psychology in Ireland with Drs. Ashley Harris and Chris Pitsikoulis

PED 3880 (4 cr) – Global Sport Psychology and Values

Experience the sights and sounds of sport and sport psychology in Ireland through a very exciting Global Sport Psychology course. Learn how Ireland’s rich history of traditional Gaelic sports provides the strong backbone for how organized sports in the country have flourished. Learn the impact of psychology on sports globally. Experience traditional Irish games such as hurling, Gaelic football, and handball. Learn to Irish Dance. Appreciate the rich sports culture of Ireland with a trip to the Gaelic Sports Museum. Day tours of Dublin, Belfast, the Burren and the Cliffs of Moher will be included, as well as tickets to a sporting event. This is a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the history of sports and sport psychology in another country and culture. Course meeting dates on AU’s campus are (M/W/F) May 6-24, 2019. Travel dates from Chicago O’Hare to Dublin, Ireland are May 14-22, 2019.

This course has been approved for General Education distribution credit for “Individual and Society” (students must file a petition). This course can be substituted for PED/PSY 3480: Sports Psychology (meets Exercise Science elective and General Education Individual and Society Category). Trip costs for this travel course are $3,500, including flight, lodging, transportation, class activities and excursions, and the majority of your meals. This does not include the cost of AU tuition.
