Welcome from the Dean

Thank you for your interest in Aurora University and its College of Education! Our goal is to achieve excellence in teaching and learning through professional education communities. The faculty and staff seek to accomplish this goal through a strong commitment to teaching, advising, scholarship, and service. Our campus-based and cohort programs are tailored to student needs and preparing teachers and administrators to meet the challenges of the 21st century.

In 2006, Aurora University opened the Institute for Collaboration building, located at the south end of the campus. This unique 65,000 square foot facility is the learning site for fourth and fifth grade students from Aurora West School District 129. Within the Institute building, Aurora University also has 13 classrooms and the offices for the College of Education, Psychology, and Physical Education and Health. With a 500-seat auditorium and several conference rooms, the building presents a wealth of opportunity for collaboration between and among various departments, local school districts, and community agencies. The learning and growth possibilities for grade school through graduate students are indeed exciting and stimulating.

Aurora University works closely with school districts, teachers, and students throughout the greater Chicago area. Undergraduate teacher preparation programs continue to expand as prospective teachers come to appreciate the rich environment available on campus. Graduate programs for current and aspiring teachers are available on campus or through cohort models in local school districts. Graduate work is also available through our Lake Geneva, Wisconsin Campus. The College of Education also offers a doctoral program for those seeking advanced training and scholarship opportunities in the areas of leadership and curriculum and instruction.
