Federal Work-Study (FWS) provides employment opportunities to students with financial need. FWS allows you to:

  • Earn money to help pay expenses associated with your education
  • Become immersed in another aspect of college life
  • Gain valuable work experience that will enhance future employment opportunities

A variety of on-campus student employment opportunities are available at Aurora University through the Office of Career Services. There are also employment opportunities available in off-campus community service settings as well. Students are advised to weigh several factors such as the job requirements, their skill level, their interests and their class load before pursuing available positions. Student employment is also available to students who do not qualify for Federal Work Study.

For more information, please contact Michelle Neitzel, Student Employment Coordinator, by phone at 630-844-6880 or by email at mneitzel@aurora.edu.

FWS by the Numbers:

  • $8.25 -  wages per hour
  • 15 - maximum hours that can be worked per week
  • Up to $1500 may be awarded for the academic year (no summer term eligibility)

Even though FWS monies are listed on your financial aid award letter, it is not credited to your student account like a grant or scholarship. A student accesses their FWS award through a bi-weekly payroll check.
