Major Notes

  • *SPN1120: Elementary Spanish I and SPN1220: Elementary Spanish II do not count toward the Spanish major.

    Students may place out of SPN1120 and/or SPN1220 through demonstration of skills on the Advanced Placement (AP) examination, College Level Examination (CLEP), the Aurora University Spanish placement examination, or by consent of the Department Chair.
  • **All Spanish majors will choose one of the following emphases:

    Spanish Language and Literature Emphasis
    Choose 16 credits from the following:
    SPN3450, SPN3500, SPN3600, SPN3650, SPN3800, SPN3880.

    Latino Studies Emphasis
    Complete LTS1200 and LTS1300;
    Choose 8 credits from the following:
    SPN3600, SPN3880, HIS3450.

General Notes

  • Student must complete 30 semester hours at the 3000 level or above, of which 15 semester hours must be completed at Aurora University.
  • The last 24 semester hours of degree must be completed at AU, including at least 18 semester hours in the major.
