Council on Social Work Education (CSWE)
The graduate (M.S.W.) program in social work is accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). Only CSWE accredited programs and schools are recognized by states as being qualified to offer academic preparation leading to professional social work licensure for their graduates. The B.S.W. program, accredited by CSWE, is recognized by accredited graduate schools of social work as eligible preparation for "Advanced Standing" consideration for the M.S.W. degree.
Illinois State Board of Education, Type 73 School Social Work
For students who are interested in preparing to be school social workers, the M.S.W. program offers a school social work specialization that is approved by the Illinois State Board of Education for Type 73 Certification. The School of Social Work is also accredited to offer a Post-M.S.W. Type 73 Certification program.
Illinois Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Professional Certification Association (IAODAPCA)
The School of Social Work is accredited by IAODAPCA to offer advanced training in addictions. The School offers an addictions counseling specialization in both the B.S.W. and M.S.W. programs which meets the requirements for students to become Certified Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Counselors (CADC) in Illinois. The School of Social Work is also accredited to offer a Post-M.S.W. Addictions Certification program.
