From dinosaurs to Degas, museums have it all! Museums are one of America's most popular attractions as evidenced by visits of more than 2.3 million per day, equaling 850 million visits per year, more than all professional sporting events combined.
If you would like to be a part of this growing field, then a minor in museum studies is the specialty for you. Combined with a major in any number of fields such as history, education, the sciences, art or English, you can be prepared for entry into the museum world.
The museum studies minor combines theory and practice with many hands-on courses and an internship in a local museum. In the four required courses, students will learn about the history of museums, care and preservation of collections and museum ethics. Studies culminate with the creation of an exhibit in AU's Schingoethe Center for Native American Culture.
