WILLIAMS BAY, Wis. — Eileen Bruton, Principal of Salem Elementary School and a Doctor of Education (Ed. D.) student at George Williams College of Aurora University, will discuss her dissertation at AU's seventh annual dissertation research conference, Saturday, Nov. 7.

The conference is from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the University Banquet Hall in Alumni Hall at 1410 Marseillaise Place in Aurora, Ill.  The public is invited.  Admission is free.

Bruton will present and discuss "A Stress of the Imagination? The Institutional and Personal Causes and Coping Mechanisms of Stress and Burnout among School Administrators."

Bruton, a resident of Twin Lakes, is one of sixteen students who started in the doctoral program when it was first offered on the campus in 2007. She is scheduled to graduate in May 2010.

The conference, attended by Ed. D. students from the Aurora and George Williams College campuses, enables students to showcase their work in various stages of the dissertation process.

"The doctoral program has been very successful for GWC with an increase in candidates every year," says Linda Olbinski, academic dean of George Williams College.

"We provide the same curriculum as is offered on the Aurora campus with two tracks available: Doctor of Education in Leadership in Administration, preparing candidates to serve as superintendents; and Doctor of Education in Leadership in Curriculum and Instruction, focusing on district K-12 curriculum leadership or in adult education, preparing those who want to teach at the college level."

Aurora University is an inclusive community dedicated to the transformative power of learning. Approximately 4,000 degree-seeking students are enrolled each year on the university's Illinois and Wisconsin campuses, and the university is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association to award degrees at the bachelor's, master's, and doctoral levels. The George Williams College campus offers 15 academic programs, unique conference facilities, and is home to Music by the Lake and other education and enrichment programs.
