GWC to Host Discussion on Helping Veterans Re-enter the Workforce
7/17/2009
WILLIAMS BAY, Wis. — George Williams College of Aurora University will host a discussion this month on how to help returning veterans re-enter the workforce.
The program will be held Friday, July 31 in The Bistro in the Beasley Campus Center, on the GWC campus at 350 Constance Blvd. in Williams Bay, Wis. There will be a reception starting at 5 p.m., followed by the presentation from 6 to 7 p.m.
Micheal Corey, a local business leader with 30 years of executive search experience in the insurance, health-care and human-capital industries, will discuss the steps returning veterans can take to find employment in the civilian workforce. This discussion is part of GWC's continuing Bistro Speaker Series.
"We strive to offer our MBA students, as well as the local community, opportunities for personal interaction with business leaders," said David Frost, assistant professor of business at George Williams College. "Michael Corey will be able to share his valuable insight on how businesses seek, find and place perspective employees like the returning veteran."
Corey is a partner at The Caldwell Partners International, heading the firm's insurance practice in the United States and Canada. He has successfully recruited senior-level executives worldwide in the private sector, as well as consulting firms and not-for-profit organizations. He joined The Caldwell Partners International from Heidrick and Struggles, where he was a senior partner in their large insurance practice, much of which he built in previous organizations.
Over the past 10 years, Corey's assignments have included clients in the United States, Europe, Pacific Rim and South America. He is also a successful entrepreneur, having started, acquired or led a number of businesses, including his own recruiting firm; Monster.com; Professional Athletes Career Education, a company helping professional athletes manage their career post-sports; and Mac's Roadhouse in the Lake Geneva area. Corey is also an experienced lecturer on the powers of executive leadership. He currently serves on the boards of The Actuarial Foundation and Fielding Institute.
Future topics for this series include "Starting Your Own Business" on Aug. 14 with Profs. David Frost and Lisa Dussault, and a presentation Sept. 10 by Jockey President and COO Ed Emma.
