Submission Guidelines

We welcome quality online submission of short stories, poetry, and art from undergraduate students, graduate students, faculty, staff, and alumni. Please address the editor and whether you are submitting short stories or poetry or art work and include your name and email address. We will accept simultaneous submissions, but please email us if your work is accepted elsewhere! We do not accept hard copy submissions. Please see below for specific guidelines. We are excited to hear from you!

Poetry: While we welcome free speech, we will not publish hate speech or thinly veiled political statements. Please also avoid limericks and nursery rhymes. We will accept poetry submissions up to three pages and a total of five poetry submissions per person. Please put contact information and a list of the poems you are sending in the body of your email and title your e-mail 'Submissions for NOLOS.' Please send your poetry submission as a Word attachment to nolos@aurora.edu

Short fiction: While we welcome free speech, we will not publish hate speech or thinly veiled political statements. Fiction submissions should be limited to one submission per person at 2,000 words. No genre fiction (i.e., horror, fantasy, sci-fi, etc.), non-fiction, or autobiography will be considered nor will chapters or excerpts of longer works be accepted. Please put contact information and the title of the work you are sending in the body of the e-mail and title your e-mail 'Submissions for NOLOS.' Please send your short fiction submission as a Word attachment to nolos@aurora.edu

Art: Art submissions can be sent as either a drawing or a photograph. For artwork, please submit it as a JPEG file but please make sure all art is in black and white and has no shading. All lines should be in black ink and should be done in a black felt tip pen. Photography should also be attached as a JPEG file. All photographs should be in black and white only.  Only five submissions are allowed per person. Please put contact information and the title of the work you are sending in the body of the e-mail and title your e-mail 'Submissions for NOLOS.' Please send your art submission to us at nolos@aurora.edu
