George Williams College to Host Community and Alumni Events Oct. 10-12

WILLIAMS BAY, Wis.—George Williams College of Aurora University invites alumni to come home to GWC with its second annual reunion, Friday Oct.10 through Sunday Oct. 12. Events will be held on the campus located at 350 Constance Blvd in Williams Bay.

The reunion begins with an informal dinner and welcome reception Friday night, concluding with a special star gazing event at Yerkes Observatory.

After an early Saturday morning breakfast, the day begins at 10 a.m. with a variety of events from which to choose including a campus tour and a GWC artifacts display.

The community is invited to join alumni for several events including a 10 a.m. presentation on the history of College Camp and upcoming research by Rita Yerkes, senior research fellow , in The Wicker Room in Mabel Cratty. There will also be a 10.a.m. discussion on a special travel opportunity to Jerusalem in the Carrie Ann Room, on the second floor of the Winston Paul Educational Center. Ron Ramer, associate professor of education and leader of this eight-day excursion to the Holy Land, will give an overview of the trip and his personal experiences in Jerusalem. Other opportunities for the community include the dedication ceremonies to be held at 11:30 a.m. for the Steinhaus Circle and the Ned Stowe Office Suite.

Further highlights of the day include additional campus tours, tours of Yerkes Observatory, Geneva Lake, Black Point Mansion and plenty of opportunities to socialize with old friends. Also from 1 to 5 p.m., the GWC archives will be open in Brandenburg Hall.

"Last year’s reunion at George Williams College was so well received that we wanted to continue the tradition," said Barb Calvert, director of alumni relations at Aurora University. "Alumni from as far back as 1937 attended and we hope to see them here again. We’ve planned a weekend of activities that offer opportunities for both alumni and community members to visit and enjoy this beautiful campus.”

Saturday evening will continue with a reception for alumni at 5 p.m. in The Bistro at the Beasley Campus Center, and the dinner banquet at 6:30 p.m. in the Beasley Campus Center. After dining, the spirit of fellowship will continue under the stars with a dedicatory campfire at 8:30 p.m. by the lakefront. For participants who wish to remain indoors, coffee and dessert will be available in the Great Hall or The Bistro.

The reunion will conclude on Sunday, Oct. 12. Alumni will enjoy a breakfast from 7:30 to 9 a.m. in the Beasley Campus Center and a worship service from 9:30-10:30 a.m. in
