AU To Detail Reading Instruction Programs Sept. 25 AURORA, Ill.—Aurora University ’s College of Education will hold a presentation for its Master of Arts in Reading Instruction (MARI) and Reading Endorsement programs at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 25, in room 213 in the Institute for Collaboration at 407 S. Calumet Ave. , Aurora. Prospective students interested in master’s degree programs in reading are invited. Roberta Linder, MARI chair, will discuss benefits of obtaining the reading credential, experiences with school reading programs, and how current teachers can include MARI coursework in their classrooms. Linder said, “The Master of Arts in Reading Instruction degree is designed to provide students with the knowledge, skills and dispositions to become highly skilled reading teachers or to become leaders of reading programs.” Courses and requirements for both degree and endorsement candidates are aligned with the Reading Specialist Standards (2003) of the International Reading Association. Faculty and staff members will offer details on the MARI program, course offerings, and financial aid opportunities. The open house is hosted by the Center for Adult and Graduate Studies.
