Aurora University Announces August Events Lineup

AURORA, Ill.—Music by the Lake performances, an art exhibit and a business workshop highlight August events at Aurora University.

The public is invited. Events are free unless a fee is indicated. The schedule is:

Aug. 3: Music by the Lake: Main Stage Series—The Chicago Brass Quintet performs at 4 p.m. in The Ferro Pavilion at George Williams College, 350 Constance Blvd. in Williams Bay, Wis. Information: Order tickets at aurora.edu/mbtl or call 262-245-8501 or 866-843-5200 (toll free).

Aug. 9: Music by the Lake: Main Stage Series—Gordon Goodwin’s Big Phat Band with Patti Austin performs at 7:30 p.m. in The Ferro Pavilion at George Williams College, 350 Constance Blvd. in Williams Bay, Wis. Aug. 12: Volunteer Training—The Schingoethe Center for Native American Cultures will hold volunteer training from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the museum in Dunham Hall, 1400 Marseillaise Place in Aurora. Information: (630) 844-7844.

Aug. 27: HR Workshop —“Finance for Human Resources Professionals,” a free workshop, will be held by Aurora University’s Human Resources Institute from 8 to 9 a.m. in the University Banquet Hall, 1410 Marseillaise Place in Aurora. Information: 630-844-4894.

Aug. 27: Test Review—A review session for the Illinois State Board of Education Basic Skills Test is from 6 to 8 p.m. Location to be announced. Test taking, strategy, reading comprehension will be covered. The cost is $25 for the public and free to AU students and alumni. Locations will be announced. Information: (630) 844-5520.

Aug. 30: Test Reviews—Two review sessions will be held for the Illinois State Board of Education Basic Skills Test. Locations will be announced. From 9 to 10:30 a.m., math word problems, proportions, algebra, pre-algebra skills will be reviewed. From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., language arts and writing will be reviewed. The cost is $25 per person (free to AU students, approved applicants, and alumni). Information: (630) 844-5520.

Ongoing: Art Exhibit—The eighth annual Aurora University Student Art Show, a Celebrating Arts and Ideas event, is on display through Sept. 8 at the Downstairs Dunham Gallery in Dunham Hall, 1400 Marseillaise Place in Aurora. Information: 630-844-7843 or e-mail museum@aurora.edu .
