Final Examination Policy and Schedules

Fall 2008 | Spring 2009

Fall 2008 Final Examination Policy:

If a final examination of any type is given in a course, it should be given at the time that the examination is officially scheduled during the final examination period.  Faculty are expected to meet their class at the scheduled final examination time since this is considered to be part of the required meeting time.

  1. There are many uniquely scheduled classes which do not meet the parameters of the standard 11 class periods.  Courses that meet during the day on a once a week schedule; e.g., Monday 1:15-3:45pm, etc. can fit into standard examination periods such as 2:30-5:15pm on Monday. Evening courses will have their examination period during their regular evening class. Saturday classes will meet during their regularly scheduled class times.
  1. No student should be expected to write more than (2) two final examinations on the same day.  Any student who is scheduled for more than 2 finals on the same day should arrange with his/her instructors to have an alternative examination time prior to the final examination period. Alternative examination times are available on Thursday and Friday of examination week.
  1. Courses that conclude in the first 8-week module (on or before 18 October) should have their final examination on the last day of their regularly scheduled class period. Courses that conclude in the second 8-week module (on or before 20 December) should have their final examination on the last day of their regularly scheduled class period. Courses that are meeting more than once a week during the eight week modules will meet for regular class periods and then utilize the last class meeting as the final examination session.
  1. Final Grades will be due to the Registrar’s Office by Noon, Tuesday, December 23.
