Approved Certification Programs

The Illinois State Board of Education in Springfield works with colleges and universities to help maintain high standards of teacher training and approves only those that meet the standards. Aurora University has been approved to offer BATC programs in the following areas:

    • Elementary Education (K - 9)
    • Physical Education (K - 12)
    • Secondary Education (6-12)
      • Biology (6 - 12) 
      • English (6 - 12)
      • Mathematics (6 - 12)
      • Physical Education (6 - 12)
      • Social Studies (6 - 12)
    • Special Education (K-12)

When a student meets the Aurora University graduation requirements, completes one or more of the above areas of concentration, meets the performance outcomes that result from taking the required professional education and general education  courses, and passes the required state tests, he/she will be recommended for Illinois certification through the University's "Approved Program" status.
