School of Education Transfer Admission Requirements

Elementary Education, Special Education and Physical Education (K-12) Admission Requirements

  • Have an Aurora University minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.75 to be considered. Special Education majors must have a 3.0 grade point average in their education courses.
  • Pass the Test for Academic Proficiency*. Student may be waived out of the Test for Academic Proficiency with either a composite score of 22 on the ACT plus Writing or a score of 1030 on the SAT.
  • Pass a criminal background check and finger printing in Kane County.
  • Receive a negative result for a tuberculosis test.

Secondary Education (English, mathematics and social studies) Admission Requirements

  • Have a 3.0 grade point average in major courses.
  • Pass the Test for Academic Proficiency*. Student may be waived out of the Test for Academic Proficiency with either a composite score of 22 on the ACT plus Writing or a score of 1030 on the SAT.
  • Pass a criminal background check and finger printing in Kane County.
  • Receive a negative result for a tuberculosis test.

Students may take the Test for Academic Proficiency. You can find more information at www.il.nesinc.com.

Students need to pass all four parts of the Test for Academic Proficiency in five attempts.

Important Dates

If enrolling for fall classes all School of Education requirements need to be completed by July 15th.

If enrolling for spring classes all School of Education requirements need to be completed by December 15th.
