Performing Ensembles
University Chorale
Members of the University Chorale have the opportunity to work with other students who enjoy singing choral repertoire in many styles from all eras. Chorale members can also earn applied course credit that counts toward the minor in music. Chorale singers audition for membership and music scholarships each spring; scholarship recipients are chosen based on the auditions.
The Chorale is comprised of new and continuing students and is directed by Ms. Christine Flasch. Rehearsals are Tuesday and Thursday, from 3:15-5:00 p.m., with additional training available through sightsinging class and applied voice lessons. Each semester performances with a professional orchestra are presented in Crimi Auditorium and on the George Williams College campus in Williams Bay, Wisconsin.
Women's Ensemble
The Women's Ensemble, made up of high voices by audition, performs in concert in Crimi Auditorium each semester. Ms. Christine Flasch directs this group in repertoire of all eras. Rehearsals are Tuesdays and Thursdays, 1:15- 2:30 p.m.
University Pep Band
Experienced wind, brass and percussion players may join the pep band, now in its second year under the direction of Mr. Bob Murray. The pep band plays popular music at selected Aurora sports events on and off campus. Rehearsals are Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Membership is by audition.
AU Jazz Ensemble
The Aurora University Jazz Ensemble includes players on trumpet, trombone, saxophone, bass, piano and drums. Directed by Professor Jeff Ford, the ensemble studies and plays music in swing, bebop and contemporary style and performs on campus. Performers are selected by audition and rehearse on Mondays and Wednesdays from 10:45-11:45 a.m.
