Athletic Training
Are you interested in working with sports and helping people? Would you enjoy working in the health-care field with the physically active population? If you answered yes to either of these questions, then athletic training could be the major for you.
Athletic training is practiced by athletic trainers, health-care professionals who collaborate with physicians to optimize activity and care for athletes, and physically active patients. Athletic training is recognized by the American Medical Association as an allied health-care profession.
Certified athletic trainers (ATCs) are experts in preventing, recognizing, managing and rehabilitating injuries that result from physical activity. In addition to taking coursework to develop your expertise in these areas, you will develop your clinical skills through a number of clinical education experiences. These experiences give you access to athletes at the collegiate and high school level, as well as working with the general population in a physical therapy clinic.
