Born on the southeast side of Chicago, my family and I lived with immigrant grandparents who worked as hard as anyone I will ever know. I watched my parents earn college degrees (one of them even earning a Ph.D.), learning very early on about the intrinsic value of education. In my own college studies, I became deeply interested in education as a driving force for social change and equity. I most enjoy teaching in high-needs and diverse educational settings. I am passionate about preparing candidates to serve in schools that need the best teachers to help close-in on achievement gaps.
