Post-Master Type 73 School Social Work Certification

The School of Social Work offers a curriculum designed to meet Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) requirements for Post-M.S.W. candidates to become certified as School Social Workers in Illinois. There are three required courses: SWK 5610 Social Work Practice with the Exceptional Child (3 semester hours); SWK 6430 School Social Work Certification (3 semester hours); and SWK 6670 Field Instruction - Post Masters School Social Work (3 semester hours). All the requirements can be completed in one calendar year or less. The School of Social Work will guide you through the ISBE certification process. Aurora University will help you prepare for the additional ISBE requirements including the Illinois Basic Skills test and the Illinois School Social Work test.
